Exit Math: compare your ways out of a winning option
Type in the position and the quotes from your broker. Exit Math lays out what each exit costs, frees up and leaves at risk, side by side, in a fixed order. By The 20 Delta Guy.
Everything is calculated in this browser. Nothing typed here leaves the page. Inputs are saved on this device only. Clear removes them.
Profit or loss at expiration, by stock price
Measured against the original cost, counting cash taken out today. The roll line uses the new call at its own expiration. Commissions on later trades are left out.
About this calculator
Exit Math is an educational calculator. It is not investment, tax or legal advice, and it does not suggest any trade. It shows the arithmetic of each choice and leaves the choice alone. Columns always appear in the same order, and none is ranked or highlighted.
Results depend entirely on the quotes and dates typed in. There is no live option data on this page. Real fills, fees and taxes can differ, and the math leaves out margin, interest and anything that happens before expiration beyond the what-if rows.
Options involve risk and are not suitable for every investor. Before trading options, read Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options, published by The Options Clearing Corporation. Tax notes are plain-language summaries of general US rules for the account type selected. Not tax advice. Check with a tax pro.
